xtra! xtra!

It's leap year; hence, Feb.29. It's my blog's first time to document something on this extra (ordinary) day. Yipee!!

I've often heard during my younger days that those born on February are "kulang-kulang"/"sinto-sinto" because of such occurrence. Is this true? hmmm... =)
FYI:
  • WHY DO WE NEED LEAP YEAR? A leap year occurs every four years to help synchronize the calendar year with the solar year, or the length of time it takes the earth to complete its orbit about the sun, which is about 365¼ days.
  • WHAT ARE YOUR CHANCES OF BEING BORN ON A LEAP DAY? About 1 in 1500.
  • HOW MANY PEOPLE WERE BORN ON A LEAP DAY? There are about 187,000 people in the US and 4 million people in the world who were born on Leap Day.
  • THE RULES FOR DETERMINING A LEAP YEAR: Most years that can be divided evenly by 4 are leap years. Exception: Century years are NOT leap years UNLESS they can be evenly divided by 400.
  • WHEN DID LEAP YEAR ORIGINATE? The Gregorian calendar is closely based on the Julian calendar, which was introduced by Julius Caesar in 45 BC. The Julian calendar featured a 12-month, 365-day year, with an intercalary day inserted every fourth year at the end of February to make an average year of 365.25 days. But because the length of the solar year is actually 365.242216 days, the Julian year was too long by .0078 days (11 minutes 14 seconds).

That's all foks! *insert Looney Toons tune here*

Happy Feb.29 everyone!!!!!!

Day 1: Session Road in Bloom

It was already late in the afternoon when Hubi and I decided to bring Kimi around Session Rd. We waited for him to awake before we went off. The weather was fine. It was not easy to find a vacant parking space; we still managed anyway. It was "heaven sent" for we waited for only a few minutes.

The three of us plus 2 friends immersed ourselves in the crowd. We weren't able to circle the whole stretch kasi super dami na ng tao and wala pa kami sa kalahati, Kimi fell asleep...again.

Nothing new/interesting to share. Here's a peek:

Post-Panagbenga

Too bad we missed the parade and the street dancing while the rain never missed it. Always present...walang mintis kada taon! We arrived in Baguio today at dawn and come morning we were still tucked under the sheets til 11:30am. It was cold, gloomy and drizzling outside and super traffic daw! As expected, mukhang lahat ng mga taga-baba eh nagsiakyatan vice versa. Imagine 15,000 spectators! Pano pinagkasya sa napakaliit na lungsod? Only Bayani knows!
We just saw the preview on tv and it seems the parade hasn't lost its touch yet. Ganda flowers pa rin!

Session Road will be closed to traffic tomorrow and the rest of the week. I just hope the sun will share its rays para masaya! Shall I get the chance to bump into my elementary, highschool, college batchmates? Kung sa mass mall eh malabong mangyari yun, baka dito, sure na. We'll see.

Congratulations Baguio!
...boom na naman ang business!!!$$$$

Proud to be from the boondocks!! .....Hell yeah!

Over and done with

Haay....thank heavens my exam's over. I'm not confident that I did well on the 1st part 'though. Maybe yes, when choosing the best possible answer. Kahit maka 75 lang dun ok na. The 2nd part's uber easy. But then I have to get enough score for both parts or else I have to do it over again.

Well, bahala na, ika nga..

On the same day, Hubi and I had the chance to meet up with my stepsisters again. Bonding at Greenbelt over a meal @ Cafe Bola and drinks @ National Sports Grill. Just a caution, if someone recommends Cafe Bola to you or your friends, tell them to forget about it. Their specialty, adobo flakes ek-ek with kesong puti, is very depressing. And take note, yun ang bestseller daw! Sayang, di ako nakapag-kodak =) Adobo flakes equals meat floss equals ala-dried hay na nakakatusok sa lalamunan. No joke! very dry!!! I was imagining, somewhat tender shredded pork and chicken meat smothered with thick adobo sauce. Yun ang akala ko/namin. Salamat sa iced tea na pantulak.

Another is their spicy bangus mousse dip plus pandesal. Sounds yummy noh? The spread is yummy...tastes even better than tuna however the pandesal is yucky! They appear like toasted sliced french bread with a stale smell na parang nillublob sa cooking oil. We let the server smell and ganun daw talaga iyon. Sus! bola! =) Well..siguro nga!

True to its name, Cafe Bola is indeed one bola. I could be judgmental, but, if what they claim to be their must try is not satiating...what more for their other dishes. Buti na lang, maganda ang pinggan at presentasyon.

BTW, I'm neither a food critic nor an expert cook...but...but...but...I know what good food is.

I'm not holding anyone; you could try for the sake of. Maybe, what's not good for me could be great to you. Right?

Goodluck na lang..

*snip*snap*lub*dup*

I'm becoming more and more cranky as The Day nears. I only have 68hrs left before I get executed. I've never been this anxious. I may have "reviewed" but I think I'm not ready for it. *sigh* In fact, to alleviate the agony, I went to visit my hairstylist last Saturday to appease this feeling. It's really my mane that suffers if I am not in a pleasant mood. Goodbye long hair and the not so good memories that accompanies it! If I may describe how I look now, I'm the carbon copy of my grade 6 grad/yearook pic. Young looking? harharhar!!

Haay..it's temporary...mas lalo pa rin akong kabado. Well, the main reason is, mainit kasi sa Manila kaya ako nagpagupit.

On the more interesting side, this coming weekend's gonna be grand. Panagbenga streetdancing and float parade. Dami na namang tao nyan...lalo na ang mga mandurukot! I became a spectator once and di ko na 'to uulitin. Walkathon to the maxx!!!! At isipin mo pa ngayon na may kakargahin kang sanggol na 10kilos? nakakaloka!

Let's see how it will go. I'm expecting nothing fancy. I'm sure, Session Road in Bloom from Feb. 25 to March 2 will showcase the same old song...

...shawarma and binatog galore.

P.S.
May UB high school dept. rest in peace..
..under the care of the insurance agents?

A Visitor No More

I could be native to my hometown, Baguio, but the fact is, I'm also a tourist in one way or another. I haven't gone to some of the very few authentic scenic places the province boasts of. I'm not referring to the usual spots: John Hay, Mines View, Wright Park etc..etc. These parks are commercialized anyway.

I was reunited with my SLMC-RBD "sisters" the past weekend and indeed we had so much fun rekindling, recalling, rebonding. Umakyat sila to visit Kimi and our family. After years of planning and planning, it was only now that the idea translated. We've traversed the globe and yet we've proven that no matter the distance, the power of 3 is always alive. We've been friends for 9 years now.

I'm thankful! If it weren't for them, Hubi and I could not have set our foot @ La Trinidad's Strawberry Farm. Nakakahiya mang aminin, it's our first time. Sabi nga, "Huli man daw at magaling, nakakahabol din." True!

There maybe nothing spectacular @ The Farm, but with the company of loved ones, the entire time became special. Kwentuhan and tawanan habang naglalakad sa makipot na daan.

We didn't try picking ourselves since it wasn't worth the price: Php200-250/kilo, whereas, you can purchase it for Php80-100 in the market. Our eyes just feasted kaya tuloy nasita ng isang Manang. Picture na lang daw kami ng picture =)

Here's a peek:

Innovate!! Strawberry Taho (for only Php15..yum!yum!)

si Manang Masungit

( be careful of her, she's the scarecrow of the farm, she drives away people who are taking pictures of her territory)

the lovely sunset

Afterwards, we proceeded to the Capitol for a bird'e eyeview, but to no avail. Darkness has fallen and there was nothing to see. We decided to return to Baguio and bring them around. We passed by The Wright Park and The Mansion and we had our pictures taken there, merely relying on the super dim street lamps. Salamat sa SB-600 at headlights, kita pa rin kami. =)

Strike 3

Today, Fox the Siberian Husky bitch, has again proven that she still can. She's given birth to 6 puppies minus 1. 3 brown, 2 black.Nadaganan nya yung isa at di na nakayanang huminga. Sayang! sampung libo rin yun =)

We're taking extra caution not to displease her; she's truly fierce in times like this. She can kill. Not exagg but true. Ilang labrador pups na ang naging biktima nya. Pati ata si Cindy the chihuhua, di pinatawad. But who can testify to that crime? The others just wag their tail.

Will post pic next time..

Fab Feb

February is indeed a festive month.

*yipee* We got a hundred reasons to celebrate faith, love, birth and pride.

Feb. 6 revels Ash Wednesday for the Catholics, Feb. 7 the Lunar New Year for the Chekwas, the Chinoys and the tikoys, Feb. 14 Valentine's Day for the lovebirds and the hopeless romantics and Feb. 23/24 Panagbenga for us, the people of the mountains. *wink*

However, we must never forget the significance of each day. It's not merely a matter of being merry.

I'm thrilled 'though on what will be in store during the Flower Festival. Hmmm..on the contrary, the influx of people makes me more cheerless. *sigh*

Snake : 1917, 1929, 1941, 1953, 1965, 1977, 1989, 2001
This year will find the energetic rat providing a wonderland of opportunities to the awakening snake. Show your true self and be honest with those who care about you. This may be difficult for the snake who is used to keeping tightly coiled, but there will be little need to use your venom to protect yourself this year. Happiness will be abundant in relationships with friends and family as long as you can uncoil. Successful results in business, especially new ventures, lie ahead for you. Your ability to take quick, decisive actions and make the right decisions will be a great benefit to your career. This may lead you to some big opportunities that you will be ready to take advantage of. Curb the impulsive to spend unwisely. Earth influences favor conservative spending for the snake, but with energy flowing so strongly, you may not be able to resist a quick buy that can turn out to be a mistake .

I'm not a 100% believer, but I've been keeping 2 charms for 3 years now, i.e., jade coins and a golden ingot. Perhaps, it was just a coincidence that I was lucky during the CNY I acquired them. Di naman masamang maniwala ;p
